Employer brand teams often spend too much time finding new employee stories, and not enough time reusing the ones they already have.

One well-planned employee interview can produce content for your careers site, recruiter outreach, job ads, candidate nurture and social media. In this guide, we’ll show you how to repurpose one employee interview into 10 employer brand story assets, without making employees repeat themselves.

Start with a better employee interview

The quality of the assets you create later depends on the conversation you capture in the first place.

Broad questions like “What do you like about working here?” can give you generic answers that are hard to reuse. Focused questions usually give you something much more useful.

You might ask pointed questions about:

  • Career progression
  • What surprised them after joining
  • What their team is like day to day
  • A project they’re proud of
  • What they wish they knew before starting
  • How their role has changed
  • What makes the work meaningful to them

You don’t need to cover every topic in one interview request. Pick a few that support a real hiring need or candidate question and give the employee room to answer naturally.

Think about reuse before you record

Before you send the request or start the interview, think about where the story could be useful.

If recruiters are hiring for a particular team, you might want a clip they can send directly to candidates. If your careers site needs stronger employee stories, you may want a longer answer with more context. If social is the priority, shorter, self-contained responses may be more useful.

Planning ahead can also help you ask better follow-up questions.

Remember you’re not scripting the employee. You’re  making sure the conversation gives you enough useful material to work with afterwards.

10 employer brand assets you can create from one interview

You won’t need all ten every time, but one strong interview can often support several different formats.

Asset Where it can be used
1. Employee story video Careers site, recruitment campaigns or employer brand pages
2. Short social clip LinkedIn or other social channels
3. Careers page quote Role, team or culture pages
4. Recruiter outreach clip Candidate outreach or follow-up
5. Candidate nurture content Email sequences or ongoing candidate communication
6. Job ad quote Role-specific job ads
7. Employee advocacy post Employee social sharing
8. Internal communications story Internal channels or employee updates
9. Quote card Social, careers content or campaign assets
10. Longer written employee story Careers site, blog or recruitment content

The important part is knowing where each asset is actually useful.

A 30-second clip about career progression might be perfect for recruiter follow-up. A longer answer about someone’s first year could work better on your careers site. One strong quote might be enough for a job ad or social post.

You don’t need to turn every answer into everything.

Pull out the strongest moments first

Once the interview is finished, start with the parts that actually say something useful.

Look for answers that are specific, easy to understand and relevant to questions candidates are already asking. A detailed story about how someone moved into a new role is usually more useful than a general statement about having “great opportunities.”

You may also find that one answer contains several useful moments. A two-minute response could become a short recruiter clip, a careers page quote and a longer written story.

Keep the employee’s wording as natural as possible. The goal is to make the content easier to use, not polish away the personality that made the story worth capturing.

Match each asset to the right channel

Not every story needs to be used everywhere.

A short clip may work well on social or in recruiter outreach because it gets to the point quickly. A more detailed answer may be better suited to your careers site, where a candidate is already looking for more information.

If an employee talks about moving from an entry-level role into leadership, that could be useful for candidates asking about progression. If they talk about what surprised them in their first few months, that might work better for candidates earlier in the hiring process.

Start with what the employee actually said, then work out which format makes sense.

Keep the process manageable

Turning one interview into several assets should save your team time, not create another backlog.

You don’t need to create ten assets just because you technically can.

Start with the formats your team, recruiters or employees will actually use. If three useful assets solve the current content gap, that may be enough. You can always come back to the interview later if another need comes up.

It also helps to keep the finished content organized. If the clips, quotes and longer story all disappear into different folders, you may end up recreating something you already have a few months later.

Make it easy to see what content came from the interview, what it covers and where it can still be used.
